One McExtreme appeared at 146 prices across 1,629 restaurants

The national median of €20.40 is useful, but it is only the centre of the distribution. The same McExtreme product appeared at 146 different prices in the Getplace analysis.

That level of variation changes the pricing question. A national benchmark can show whether a restaurant sits above or below the middle, but it cannot show whether the wider network follows a few controlled price tiers or a much more fragmented structure.

Here, 146 price points indicate a dense price architecture. For a pricing director, that creates a practical need to compare like with like: the same SKU, on the same delivery platform, across individual restaurants.

The difference between the minimum and maximum was €11.70. Relative to the lowest price, the maximum was 81.25% higher.

This comparison does not mean most restaurants sat near either extreme. It shows the width of the observed corridor and identifies locations that pricing teams would want to inspect more closely.

The highest prices were not confined to Paris

Paris République set the maximum in the published analysis, but the upper end was not simply a Paris story. Five Toulouse restaurants were listed at €25.70: Toulouse Nord, Toulouse Esquirol, Toulouse Roosevelt, Toulouse L’Union and Toulouse Minimes.

The lower-price examples also crossed several parts of the Paris region, including Lagny, Cachan, Vincennes, La Défense and Nanterre. The pattern therefore looks more granular than a simple split between Paris and the rest of France.

Without the underlying data, it is not possible to map the full geographic distribution or measure how many restaurants occupied each price point. The named examples still show why city-level averages can miss meaningful differences between individual restaurants.

Price variation by location is not proof of dynamic pricing

The analysis is a snapshot of price differences between locations. It does not show prices changing by time of day, demand level or customer behaviour.

That distinction matters. Location-based price variation can form part of a broader pricing strategy, but this evidence alone does not establish dynamic pricing in the time-sensitive sense. It also does not explain why a particular restaurant selected a particular price.

Possible factors could include local costs, competitive conditions, delivery economics, franchise decisions or older pricing layers. They remain questions for further analysis, not findings from this snapshot.

What pricing teams can learn from SKU-level comparison

For multi-location brands, the main lesson is operational: start with a consistent unit of comparison. A single product across one platform makes local variation visible in a way that a blended menu average cannot.

Pricing teams can use that view to:

  1. identify restaurants furthest from the national or regional median;
  2. distinguish deliberate price tiers from isolated outliers;
  3. compare neighbouring restaurants serving similar delivery markets;
  4. check whether the same pattern appears across other hero products;
  5. track whether local gaps widen, narrow or remain stable over time.

The data should guide investigation rather than supply an automatic answer. A high price may be intentional and commercially sound. A low price may support a local value position. The useful question is whether each difference is understood, current and consistent with the brand’s pricing logic.
